I done drawed!

Hi folks, a little pic of me at a recent cartooning gig. I was doing caricatures for folks passing by. It was great fun and I'll be sure to get more snaps of me out and about on these adventures.

**note to self: this blog needs more cartoons.**

Wedding Bells!

I was honored to be asked to create a present for my friend Ami to give to her husband Shawn recently. It was nerve racking for me to work on it because of the tightrope that is layering washes. I finally had to let it go to the bride though. I'm pleased to report that she was ecstatic. Further the response from Shawn was great as well. And now, a little while after the wedding, I'm able to show it off to you, faithful two people who come by here. Enjoy.

Don't bother wondering why they are eating and tearing at each other. There is no answer! Only Zule!

More in my Alice Cycle.

So I've got two more bits in my cycle of Alice in Wonderland-inspired images. They were shown recently at an art show in Keizer. Emerge, held by the Keizer Art Association, is a place for folks to see what is new in local art. It's a wonderful avenue for up and comers and undiscovereds to hob nob with folks who enjoy a bit of local flavor.

Along with the Caterpillar painting--I thought I posted it before but I guess not so I'll do it anyway--I presented a Cheshire Cat and a frightening scene from the tea party. The Caterpillar was in an earlier show and made a small splash I re-presented it to remind folks who I was. The person I sold it to was kind enough to allow this. I was able to sell the tea party and Cheshire was a commissioned piece. Enjoy them!

Tonight 06-08-2009

League night @ Town & Country in Keizer! I'll be there drawing cartoons of people for $10! Come on down if you're in the neighborhood. Starting at 6:30

See you there.

==9:30==
Just back from the bowling alley... That was a fun time. It was a little slow going but the league bowlers are not yet used to a caricature artist being there! I got a few bucks and it was worth the time. Most of all: it was a great chance to draw folks moving around. I'll go back and do that again next Monday night if work allows!

New Art

We are getting on the stick here at Micahtoons Blogging. Okay, there is no "we." It's just one dude trying to make it all come together. BUT! there is some "getting on the stick" happening here. Let's start with a little posting of some art. Here is a brave forray into photography! ha!

This turned out very well. It was pure lightning in the bottle. Most of my shots I tried to get a couple of in the can. This scenario, however, would prove impossible for that, and I was lucky.

I sat down in this car and went for a ride. Somehow when my boots hit the steel floor I started falling a little in love with the machine. As much as a man can love a machine before he starts to project humanity on it.

This is the dash seen through the rear window. A lovely moment just before Magic Hour when the light was a very sensual blue and the sky started to burn.

Maddy, of the coming soon variety

Several months ago a fellow named Steve was talking to me about my artwork. He complimented me and said he had a cool idea. Every now and then someone comes along and says something to that effect. I never want to quash creativity really, so I listen and enjoy the idea. Now, I'm nobody in the scheme of things, so I don't go trying to be all pretentious--despite what some jaggoffs have said about my review of "Our Town"--and I endeavor to foster good feelings. But frankly, I do have some irons in the fire as far as ideas go, and I'm trying to work. So someone's idea is a tough go for me really. Unless there is money attached outright.

And that's not what this fellow had. Money. Just an idea. Hey neat! Good idea. I thought that was the end of that. Well... no.

Some time later we became friends. Some might say unlikely friends. But the sonovabitch is my friend, so there. Steve pops the idea again and this time he works a little harder to convince me. I'll be damned but it sounds fun and good!

Chick assassins. Babes with guns, shooting those guns, and causing an outpouring of blood that is cartoonish in its magnitude! The notion clicked. I did some sketches, the idea grew, and then we started working in earnest!

It's called MADDY.

Here's a neat picture I did for our "gabbo" ad, something to make people ask "what is that?" There's also a MySpace for Maddy.
